6 New Convenience Snacks Hitting Stores Now

Many of the items among the latest batch of new products to cross Convenience Store Products' desk in the past few weeks have had something in common: dairy. New cheese and ice-cream products seem to be dominating the snack market.

1. Planters Cheez Balls & Cheez Curls

Suffolk, Va.-based snack maker Planters is bringing back Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls for the first time in 12 years.

Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls will appear on shelves in July for a limited time only and will be sold in 2.75-ounce and 4-ounce canisters. Both will have a suggested retail price of $1.99.

Planters recently teased fans by making 59 Cheez Balls and Cheez Curds canisters available for purchase on e-commerce websites.

2. My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream

Ice-cream snack producer My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream has launched two new ice cream products: a Cashew Cream Frozen Dessert (available in nondariy and vegan forms) and deconstructed pints of My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream with Mochi Bits.

The Los Angeles-based brand's other flavors include Salted Caramel, Vanilla Bean, Mint Chocolate Chip, Sweet Mango, Ripe Strawberry, Cookies and Cream, Green Tea and Double Chocolate.

3. Laughing Cow Cheese Cups

Cheese company The Laughing Cow, a division of Chicago-based Bel Brands USA, has launched its new Cheese Cups at retailers nationwide. The portable cups join the company’s other products, which includes Cheese Wedges and Cheese Dippers.

Laughing Cow Cheese Cups are available in three varieties: Creamy Swiss Original, Creamy Swiss Garlic & Herb and Creamy White Cheddar. The Cheese Cups are made from real cheese and are free of artificial preservatives and additives.

4. Cheese Whisps

Cheese crisp manufacturer Whisps has debuted two new flavors: Bacon BBQ and Tomato Basil.

The Bacon BBQ Cheese Crisps combine sharp cheddar cheese with smoky barbecue spices, while the Tomato Basil Cheese Crisps contain parmesan cheese and a zesty spice blend. These expand the company’s existing line of Cheese Crisps, also available in Asiago & Pepper Jack, Cheddar Cheese and Parmesan Cheese flavors.

The crisps are ideal for on-the-go snacking occasions, beverage pairings and topping soups and salads, according to the Fairfield, N.J.-based company.

5. Rind Skin-On Superfruit

New York-based dried-fruit snack company Rind Snacks has launched a line of Skin-On Superfruit snacks in three flavors: California Kiwi, Tropical (bittersweet orange, organic pineapple, kiwi) and Orchard (persimmon, apple, peach). The snacks come in 1.5-ounce single-serve and 3-ounce resealable pouches.

Skin-On Superfruit snacks are high in vitamin C and fiber. They’re also kosher, Non-GMO and gluten-free.

6. Lehi Valley Granola

Lehi, Ariz.-based Lehi Valley Trading Co. has released its newest product line of superfood-infused granola. These products feature soft baked granolas handcrafted in small batches with Lehi Valley’s Arizona-sourced ingredients.

The granola comes in two varieties:

  • Simply Forage, a blend of puffed wild rice, quinoa puffs, cranberry seeds, pepitas, coconut, pecans, filberts, apricots, cranberries, apples, currants, rolled oats and honey.
  • Cranberry Orange Pistachio, a combination of orange zest, cranberries, chia seeds, pepitas, pistachios, almonds, rolled oats and honey.

Both varieties are available in 10-ounce packages for a suggested retail price of $3.99 in the company’s High Valley Orchard, Arizona Snack Co., Snackworthy and private-label brands.
