7 New C-Store Products Hitting the Market

Another week, another batch of new products to monitor. This roundup features twists on coffee, hummus, pretzels and protein bars from both familiar brands and new companies.

Here’s seven new products turning heads this week …

1. Hostess Jumbo Donettes

Hostess Brands Inc. has added two new flavors to its product line of Jumbo Donettes. These sugary treats arrive in Glazed and Chocolate Iced With Sprinkles, both now available to retailers nationwide. The on-trend, portable packages contain six individually wrapped Donettes, and each treat features quirky phrases such as “This one’s mine. (Sorry, not sorry).”

In May, the brand also introduced Strawberry Donettes in a line of patriotic-themed treats for July 4 and Memorial Day.

2. Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee Thins

Quick-service restaurant Dunkin' Donuts launched its new coffee thins based on its coffee flavors at the recent Sweets & Snacks Expo in Chicago, according to online snack directory The Junk Food Aisle. The coffee thins will arrive in several flavors, including Original, Caramel, Peppermint Mocha and Pumpkin Spice blends.

3. Matt’s Cookies

Soft-baked cookie producer Matt’s Cookie Co. has launched a new flavor to its cookie roster, S’mores, which is now available at Chicago-based retailers for a limited time this summer.

Matt’s S'mores cookies are free of artificial preservatives, flavors and colors and are Non-GMO Project verified. They are fresh-baked and packaged in portable, resealable bags, fitting with today’s consumer snacking trends. Sixty-nine percent of patrons say freshness is important or extremely important when choosing a snack, according to Technomic’s 2017 Snacking Occasion Consumer Trend Report.

4. Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps

Snack Factory, a subsidiary of The Campbell Soup Co., has launched two new Pretzel Crisps flavors: Sourdough and Cinnamon Sugar. Both flavors are now available nationwide.

The Sourdough pretzel crisps pair well with deli meats, cheeses and spreads, while the Cinnamon option fits well next to fresh fruit, whipped toppings or chocolate dips, the company said.

5. Cheez-It Duoz Caramel Popcorn & Cheddar

Snack brand Cheez-It has added Cheez-It Duoz Caramel Popcorn & Cheddar to its portfolio. The new pairing balances the sweet and salty flavors of caramel popcorn and Cheez-It Cheddar crackers, which are made with 100% real cheese. For the convenience channel, Cheez-It Duoz Caramel Popcorn & Cheddar comes in a 4-ounce bag. 

6. Boar’s Head Dark Chocolate Dessert Hummus

Deli food provider Boar's Head's newest permanent product is a twist on classic Mediterranean hummus spread. Its Dark Chocolate Dessert Hummus is best enjoyed with fresh fruit, pretzels and crackers, according to the company. The spread was first launched as a limited-time offer in 2017, but the brand has now made it a permanent addition to its product line.

7. ThinkKids Protein Snack Bars

ThinkKids, a new protein-bar company, has debuted its first line of better-for-you bars intended for children. Set to hit stores this summer, the bars come in five flavors: Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Cup, Cookies & Creme, Cinnamon Sugar Cookie and Vanilla Cupcake.

These protein bars contain 7 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber per serving and offer 45% less sugar than the leading national granola bar, the company said. Each bar is gluten-free, GMO-free and made without artificial flavors and colors.
